2 Children Suffer Serious Injuries In Garden State Parkway Crash: State Police

Two children from London, England, were ejected from their car in a crash on the Garden State Parkway, authorities said.

The crash occurred at 2:40 p.m. on the southbound lanes of the parkway at milepost 97.3 in Wall Township, State Police said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a Toyota Sienna and a Honda Accord were traveling southbound when the two vehicles were involved in a sideswipe collision. As a result of the collision, the Honda ran off the road to the left and struck two guardrail posts. The driver of the Honda was not injured.

The Toyota ran off the road to the left and overturned. As a result, a 5-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl were ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries, police said. Three additional passengers, all from London, suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries.

The three left lanes of the parkway were closed for four hours resulting in heavy traffic congestion. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
